Running Free Farms is owned & operated by Ashley Fincham. With focus on providing proper Teaching and Training Techniques, Education and Awareness, and will be offering Equine Therapy programs through CWH in mid/late 2017.
Ashley comes from a long line of Equine Enthusiasts being involved in different disciplines. Ashley’s late mom worked with Standardbred racehorses and well as training horses under saddle. For as long as Ashley can remember she has been riding and working with horses. Ashley has developed and learned a lot of different teaching methods and strongly believes every horse learns differently, just like humans.
Ashley has been successful in both English and Western discipline rings. Go to down each down tab for more details on her achievements and experiences.
Ashley has been around horses since her family moved to the family farm when she was 6 months old. Once Ashley was able to sit on her own her mom had her sitting in front of her going on rides. Horse’s come as a second nature to Ashley, growing up on a hobby farm that never went without a horse on property until it was sold. Ashley has relatives that were highly competitive in Standardbred Harness racing, developing Ashley’s passion and skills for retraining retired Standardbred racehorses under saddle. In 2012, Ashley worked for her Uncle on his farm, jogging the racehorses, doing chores, caring for the horses as well as working at the tracks on race nights obtaining my ORC Grooms license at the time. At the age of 11, Ashley was halter showing Percheron’s at many different shows including The Royal Winter Fair.

Over the years Ashley has owned, trained and worked with many horses. Ashley has worked with Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racehorses, exercising both breed, working at thoroughbred breeding farm, showing TB yearlings at Woodbine in the Fall Sale and working with many TB racehorses. Ashley has developed a lot of experience retraining off the track Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds, specializing in retraining Standardbreds.
In 2015, Ashley adventured to western Canada staying in Alberta, where she worked with World Professional Chuckwagon Driver Troy Flad. Learning a lot about Equine Nutrition, proper Equine care and of course taught me about Chuckwagons. It was a true honor to have met him, his family, watch him race and stay with them on their family farm. While Ashley was in Alberta she worked with many different horses, treating behavioural/trust issues, starting them under saddle, refreshing competitive horses and riding for fun. Ashley work with barrel racing/pole bending, roping and sorting mounts while she was out west.
Ashley is now focusing on her own riding career, currently Barrel Racing and Pole Bending, with high hopes for more in the future. Facebook Page
